Conferences

First Conference of the Project Islam in Eurasia, March 20-21, 2009

The Project on Islam in Eurasia will hold a conference on “The Changing Social Role of Islam in Post-Soviet Eurasia” on March 20-21.  The conference will gather a number of the scholars who have been most focused on trying to understand the social transformations in which Islam plays a role in the post-Soviet period.  The purpose of the conference are to assess the current state of scholarship and identify key issues that deserve further investigation.

If you are interested in attending the conference, please contact visit the conference page (linked here).  Please note that only those who receive confirmation of their registration will be able to attend the conference (due to space limitations) and that attendees must find their own resources to cover conference-related expenses.

Later Conferences

We will hold a conference in the third year of the Project (2010/11) with the primary purpose of drawing conclusions from the work of the Project, particularly as they pertain to the formulation of policy.  We anticipate organizing other conferences and seminars, also in collaboration with other institutions which share our interest (see also Presentations).
